Lockhart is a census-designated place in Orange County, Florida, United States. The population was 13,060 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community is named for David Lockhart (19 March 1864 – 26 August 1923).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 4.6 mi², of which 4.4 mi² is land and 0.2 mi², or 4.17% is water.
Since 1970, the population of Lockhart has grown from 5,809. At the 2000 census, there were 12,944 people, 4,642 households and 3,305 families residing in the Lockhart area.
There were 4,642 households of which 37.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.3% were married couples living together, 16.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.8% were non-families. 20.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
